Monday: Trip to Moody Gardens in Galveston
|
20000529-01-MoodyGardens Monday morning about 35 of us piled onto a bus and headed down to Galveston to visit Moody Gardens. It is an institution that promotes education, conservation, and research. We visited their aquarium and the tropical rain forest. This pyramid contains the tropical rain forest. |
20000529-02-Tony Tony was video taping everything in sight. |
20000529-03-ThePuppies Rangler Joe's puppies rested in the bus while we toured Moody Gardens. |

20000529-05-RanglerJoe Rangler Joe led us around Moody Gardens. |
20000529-06-TheAquarium Our first stop was the Aquarium Pyramid. |
20000529-07-PetMeCrab They had lots of large habitats with seals, penguins, sharks, etc. They also had some small 'touch tanks' where you could pet the animals. This little crab was in one of the touch tanks. |
20000529-08-Colorful There were many colorful creatures to look at. |
|
20000529-09-SmallTank The aquarium also had many small habitats with colorful coral and creatures. |
20000529-10-TopOfPyramid The top of the Aquarium Pyramid was covered with stars. |
20000529-11-Starfish A bright little starfish. |
20000529-12-Plumbing To keep all of the fish happy, the aquarium has a massive water circulation / filteration system. |
|
20000529-13-TheTube In part of the aquarium you can walk 'inside' one of the large tanks and see all of the fish very close up. |
20000529-14-Divers We watched some divers working in the tank. They always dive in pairs; one diver to do the work and one is the safety diver. In this case the diver was cleaning the fake coral in the tank. |
20000529-15-TheEel The safety diver helped to keep this hungry eel away from the other diver. |
20000529-16-TheMudfish Jack found a Mudfish in the Aquarium that wanted to come along with us. He's a very friendly Mudfish. |
