Memorial Day Weekend  -  May 25-29, 2000

Radisson Hotel Astrodome, Houston, Texas

I've put together an online photo album of our Memorial Day Weekend trip. It is divided up into sections, which correspond to the main events that occurred during the weekend. When you look at each section you'll see a collection of thumbnail images with a description of what's going on in the picture.  You can click on the picture to see a larger version of the image in a separate window. (You don't need to close the separate window. The next image you click on will bring the window back to the foreground with the new picture.)

Thursday It all started on Thursday when we went to dinner with Tim and Jim.  That was followed by The Countdown Party at the BRB.
Friday during the day During the day on Friday we spent time around the hotel. We visited with friends and attended some dance workshops.
Friday night: The Launch Party Friday night was the opening night party. It was held in the hotel's ballroom, which has a huge dance floor! The Launch Party included the Grand Entry of the clubs, several dance exhibitions, and lots of open dancing.
Friday night: The Montrose Bar Shuttle Around 10pm Friday night the shuttle buses (Bus 5!) started running from the hotel to the BRB and other bars in the Montrose area. We made it as far as the BRB and had a great time.
Saturday during the day During the day on Saturday we watched the dance competitions. Wow, there are a lot of great dancers out there!
Saturday night: The Rendezvous Party Saturday night's big party was call the Rendezvous Party. It included more great exhibitions and open dancing.
Saturday night: Presentation of the Awards During the Rendezvous Party the awards from the afternoon's dance competitions were presented.  Here are the "official" pictures of the winners, including a full list of who won what.
Sunday morning: Buffet and General Membership Meeting Sunday morning included brunch, a great performance by The Women of the IAGLCWDC, and our General Membership meeting.
Monday: Trip to Moody Gardens On Monday about 35 of us hopped on a bus and headed down to Galveston to tour Moody Gardens for the day.
Tuesday: The Eindhoven Stetsons visit Austin Tuesday morning Jack and I drove the Eindhoven Stetsons back to Austin with us. They wanted to see a little more of Texas before returning to Holland and Jos had graciously offered to teach a line dance during our regular Tuesday night lessons at The Rainbow Cattle Company.

I hope you enjoyed our photo album. If you have any comments, feel free to email us at mjh@io.com or ZJack@pobox.com.

Thanks,
